André Strydom

André Strydom is an investment and commercial banking specialist with deep expertise in structured trade and commodity finance, agricultural finance, export and import credit, inventory finance, and corporate finance. His career spans leadership roles at leading financial institutions, giving him extensive knowledge of structured lending and trade finance solutions.
At Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), André held senior roles in credit, structured export finance, and structured trade and commodity finance. He later served as Head of Corporate Banking and Trade Finance at FBC Fidelity Bank, and as Head of Corporate Banking and Credit at Real Africa Durolink. As CEO of Kiwane Asset Management, he led the firm’s strategic investment initiatives. He subsequently held senior trade finance roles at Standard Bank, Absa Bank, and First National Bank (FNB), specialising in collateralised and structured trade finance.
Internationally, André served as Head of Credit and Risk at AMC Trade Finance in London and as a Consultant and Credit Committee Member at Africa Global Trade Finance, also in London. He currently serves as Independent Chairman of the Credit Committee at Alizé Capital.
With experience across emerging markets, André has structured complex trade and investment deals across industries such as agriculture, steel, chemicals, petroleum, and consumer goods. His expertise includes recourse and non-recourse financing, hedging, exchange controls, and bartering techniques.
Academically, André holds qualifications from the University of Johannesburg and the University of the Witwatersrand, with studies in commercial law, transport, financial management, and taxation. He is also a regular lecturer and conference presenter on trade and commodity finance.
