Khanya is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and development finance specialist with extensive experience in financial services, spanning investment research, structured finance, and SME-focused fintech. She provides strategic oversight and deep expertise in credit-linked assets and sustainable investment frameworks within the South African market.
As the co-founder of Mustard Finance, she established a technology-driven platform providing essential working capital to informal SMEs in the retail and logistics sectors. Her corporate career includes serving as a Regulatory and Advisory Consultant at Absa, where she specialized in structured commodity finance and renewable energy project finance. She also held key positions as an Investment Analyst at Investec and served in leadership roles during her tenure at Deloitte.
Khanya currently serves as a Non-Executive Director for Muthobi Partners and Bophelo NPC. She holds a Master’s in Development Finance (Cum Laude) from the UCT Graduate School of Business and a BCom (Hons) in Accounting from the University of Fort Hare. Additionally, she holds a CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, reinforcing a commitment to responsible and impactful asset management.
